Many people who are thinking about getting a mommy makeover would like to address stubborn belly fat and/or loose skin. But is there a certain target weight or BMI you should be before getting a mommy makeover?
Learn more about the latest weight and BMI guidelines for a mommy makeover to help you plan a realistic timeline for your procedure and see the best possible results.
Shoot for a BMI of Under 30
[pullquote]Even if you aren’t at your ideal weight yet, you can schedule a consultation with a cosmetic surgeon to discuss your mommy makeover timeline.[/pullquote]
Generally speaking, most cosmetic surgeons recommend that your BMI is under 30 before moving forward with a mommy makeover or other elective cosmetic surgery. This is because the risk of complications during and after surgery is greater with higher BMIs, and longer operating times are often required.
Additionally, you will see the best results if you are able to come close to reaching your ideal weight prior to your mommy makeover.
Consider Your Waist to Hip Ratio
It is true that, for some people, their calculated BMI is not an accurate representation of their overall health or weight situation. For example, people with a larger than average muscle mass may have a skewed BMI, despite a healthy body fat percentage.
To check your waist to hip ratio, measure around the smallest part of your waist, then measure around the widest part of your hips. Divide your waist size by your hip size. A healthy ratio is 0.85 or lower for women and 0.9 or lower for men.
